How psychotherapy can help with ADHD

Every client is unique and a properly trained psychotherapist will recognise and respect their way of coping with ADHD. The therapist will provide a safe and supportive space for the client to express their feelings in complete confidence and with no judgement.

Working with the client the therapist should endeavour to find the best ways to manage their ADHD symptoms and the challenges they bring, thereby improving their quality of life. Also helping them understand the condition and how it affects their behaviours and feelings. This understanding will hopefully lead to greater contentment.

Person centred therapy in particular can be beneficial for adults with ADHD. It can assist in making sense of the condition and help find solutions and coping strategies to deal with the problems and manage the symptoms.
